Your Ultimate Guide to Exploring From Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

As visitors to Jasper, we respectfully acknowledge that Jasper National Park is located in Treaty 6 and Treaty 8, as well as the traditional lands of the Beaver, Cree, Ojibway, Secwépemc, Stoney and Métis.

Located just over 3 hours West of Edmonton and around 5 hours Northwest of Calgary, Jasper National Park extends over 11,000 square kilometers and is the largest National park in the Canadian Rockies. From backcountry camping and viewpoint hikes to white-water rafting and canyon tours, there is no shortage of adventures to be had in Jasper … but what about the flip side? What about the relaxation? What about unwinding from a long week with a glass of wine and a beautiful view of the mountains?

Lucky for you, we were recently invited by Tourism Jasper to spend a few days at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and experience all that their beautiful property has to offer adventure travelers and spa-goers alike. Please be aware that all experiences and accommodations in this post were gifted generously by Tourism Jasper and Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, but all opinions (and the choice to share them) are our own.

Arriving at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, we were greeted at the front gate and provided with all of the information needed for contactless check-in.

Our Lakefront Suite was located just a short distance from the main lodge, adjacent to the 18th fairway of the golf course and overlooking beautiful Lac Beauvert. We unpacked quickly (spreading our clothes and camera gear across the main living space - table, coffee table and sofa) before showering off and heading out to explore the grounds.

I have to be honest - we aren’t always a huge fan of larger resort properties, but despite its 442 guest rooms, spread out over 700 acres this beautiful spot felt surprisingly cozy and immersed in nature. Everything from the lodge to the cabins to the amenities felt perfectly appointed and left us immediately wishing that we could stay longer than the three nights already planned.

Don’t worry though, over the course of our short stay we were still able to experience a lot with so much available directly on the property itself. Are you planning a visit to Jasper Park Lodge? Here were a few of our favorite experiences.

HIKE Lac Beauvert Trail

The trail around Lac Beauvert takes less than an hour and shows off some beautiful views of the main lodge, lake and golf course. Visiting midweek, we also found ourselves running into very few other visitors out and about, so the serenity was exactly what we needed after a day of driving.

ENJOY A FOREST THERAPY TREATMENT

Inspired by the natural elements of Jasper National Park, the spa at Jasper Park Lodge reflects the energy of the surrounding mountains, rivers & waterfalls surrounding it, and is the perfect way to slow down and relax after an active day or busy week.

During our stay, we enjoyed a Forest Therapy Treatment at the Spa consisting of a cleansing, guided inhalation and tension releasing acupressure massage, warm mud mask and relaxing scalp massage.

DINE OUT WITH A CHAMPAGNE PICNIC

One of our favorite experiences at Jasper Park Lodge was ordering a gourmet picnic from Fitzhugh’s Fine Foods to enjoy along the water. These picnic baskets are perfect for a day full of adventure and sightseeing, or they can be enjoyed at the resort on one of their sundecks or your guest room patio.

Quick Tip: Just outside of the main entrance to Jasper Park Lodge, you will find the turnoff to Lake Annette and Edith Lake. Both of these beautiful lakes are great locations to enjoy a picnic with a view.

ENJOY A ROUND OF GOLF

Since the opening of the mountain golf course in 1925, this course has been known as “must-play” for anyone who loves the sport.

Stanley Thompson (Canada's master golf course architect) designed this 18-hole course with elevated tee boxes, dramatic bunkering and holes aligned with stunning mountain views.

Carved through the surrounding forest, this course is about more than just the game and we had a fantastic afternoon touring the holes and scoping out the wildlife!

LOUNGE BY THE POOL

Whether you spend your days out in the wilderness or relaxing at the spa, lounging by the pool (which is heated for your comfort) with a view of the lake is great way to unwind.

While you’re there, consider taking advantage of the lodge’s Health Club as well, featuring a fully equipped fitness center and hot tub.

As you can see, even on a shorter stay we were able to make the most of our time at Jasper Park Lodge and we look forward to returning again and again. Whether you are planning a romantic honeymoon, a getaway with your girlfriends (or boyfriends), or a weekend away with the kids, there is truly something for everyone at Jasper Park Lodge.
